everything HelpDesk System Requirements
These System Requirements are for LEGACY on-premise customers using everything HelpDesk (eHD). NOTE: Several years ago GroupLink began providing eHD subscriptions exclusively for cloud-hosted customers. If you are a legacy customer using eHD on-premise, and would like to move to the cloud (recommended), please contact GroupLink about our assistance to you in migrating your eHD system to be cloud-hosted by GroupLink.
The hardware listed below is a recommendation by GroupLink for efficient eHD operation. Note that each server (database, Tomcat, etc.) does not need to reside on a separate system, although it is recommended in larger installations (with more than 20,000 users).
For best performance, we recommend that your client workstations meet the recommended system specifications for your desired browser. eHD is best viewed with a minimum of 800×600 resolution
Minimum of 2GB of RAM
Minimum of 1GB of free hard drive space for database (expandable as needed)
everything HelpDesk is designed to be setup with minimal downtime so you can start using it right away. The following sections take you through an overview of all pre-installation requirements and recommendations, including:
Client Workstations – Supported Browsers
- Internet Explorer v11 or higher, with compatibility mode disabled
- MS Edge (latest version)
- Mozilla Firefox (latest version)
- Safari (latest version)
- Chrome (latest version)
These are the browsers on which we have tested and found stable for this release. Users may use newer versions of the operating systems but must be advised that they may have not been fully tested.
GroupLink’s everything HelpDesk is flexible enough to run on several operating systems. The operating systems supported by everything HelpDesk are:
- Microsoft Windows (Server 2016 or higher)
- Major Linux Distributions (Recent versions of Ubuntu, redhat, Fedora, SUSE)
- Mac OS X 10.4 or higher (manual installation)
These are the operating systems that we have tested on and found stable for this release. Users may use newer versions of the operating systems but must be advised that they have not been fully tested. When installing everything HelpDesk for the first time it is recommended that you use the all-inclusive installer. The installer comes pre-packaged with all the software components needed to run eHD (Java, Tomcat Server, and MySQL Database). When re-installing or upgrading to the latest version on Linux, and if you have experience with Linux systems, you may wish to upgrade using the approach replacing the war file. Otherwise you an upgrade using the installer.
NOTE: If you are not using the all-inclusive installer, GroupLink can provide general information to you about Java JDK Environment, Tomcat Server, and Database Server. However, as outlined in your license agreement, GroupLink cannot assume responsibility for those systems on your premises. If you would like GroupLink to assume responsibility for those systems please contact GroupLink about our assistance to you in migrating your eHD system to be cloud-hosted by GroupLink.
